Lone Working

Health and Safety

Background

People who work alone without direct or close supervision are lone workers. They may be persons such as security staff, technicians, maintenance team or councillors

Lone workers should not be at more risk than other employees, they face the same hazards at work as anyone else, but there is a greater risk of these hazards causing harm as they may not have anyone to help or support them if things go wrong.

We are responsible for the health, safety and welfare at work of all our employees. These responsibilities cannot be transferred to any other person, including to those people who work alone.

The university have purchased a system called Callmy Alert with the intention to provide a solution for emergency communication.

Callmy Alert provides you with a SOS capability for your personal safety, and is also used to deliver you urgent messages that require a fast response.
