Policies & safety arrangements

Health and Safety

Background

It is a legal requirement that the university retains and communicates how health and safety is managed in the workplace.

The health and safety policy sets out the universities general approach to health and safety. It explains how we, as an employer, will manage health and safety.

The university has an obligation to share the policies and statement of intent. This can be found by following the links below.

Health & Safety Law Poster (What you need to know)

The Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulations 1989, requires employers make available the HSE-approved law poster. The poster explains British health and safety laws and lists what workers and their employers should do.

A number of posters are displayed in suitably prominent locations, which are accessible to University employees (these tend to be kitchen areas).

Health & Safety Law “what you need to know” can be found here.

Virtual Employee Safety Handbook (ESH)

The ESH provides important information for all staff regarding health and safety arrangements at the University. This is completed when staff start employment with the University and every two years for refresher training. This is available on the University home pages under Learn upon, search Health and Safety.
